Tallgrass North America’s Practitioner Program is comprised of 10 classes, 8 Online classes and 2 Hands On classes. In order for a student to become a Practitioner, they are also responsible for 40 hours of elective courses (Tallgrass North America offers several).
Do I have to take the classes in that order?
You do not have to take the classes in that order, however it is recommended that you do follow the order. The classes become progressively more challenging and build on concepts from previous courses in the program.
How long is the program?
The program is entirely self-paced. The time it takes a student to complete course work depends on their learning style, how much time they spend on the course, and their budget. This time can be as little as 9 months and may extend to 24 - 36 months.
How much is tuition for the entire program?
The program is pay as you go, meaning you pay for one class at a time. In American dollars, the tuition for the program (not including electives) is $3,385. In Canadian dollars, the tuition for the program (not including electives) is $4,300. Increases in course prices will clearly change this amount.
Can I become dual-certified in both Equine and Small Animal?
Yes, absolutely! Students complete the full program for one species, and may then begin course work in the second species. A list of courses required for Dual Certified Practitioners can be found here.
How do the Hands On Classes work? Are there pre-requisites?
The Hands On classes run from 9am to 5pm each day. The 2 Day Introductory class typically runs on Saturdays and Sundays and the 4 Day Meridians & Specific Conditions class typically runs Thursdays to Sundays. The Hands On classes are 40% lecture and 60% Hands on practice where you get experience with the species you chose.
The pre-requisite for the 2 Day class is Overview to Traditional Chinese Medicine. The pre-requisites for the 4 Day class are Overview to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Meridian Theory. These courses are required prior to the hands-on courses as many of the theories and concepts covered in the Hands On classes are introduced in the pre-requisite classes, allowing students to make the most of their hands-on class time. The pre-requisites also help ensure that everyone in the class in basically at the same level.
Is there an exam or case studies?
The Hands on courses have both a multiple choice exam, short answer questions, and case studies required to receive a Certificate of Completion for the course. The 2 Day Introductory Hands On class has 40 multiple choice questions, 2 short answer questions, and 4 case studies. The 4 Day Meridians & Specific Conditions class has 80 multiple choice questions, 2 short answer questions, and 6 case studies to complete.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, it can be found here. In short, the policies vary by type of class and location.
How are the online classes formatted? Are there exams?
They are formatted into lessons. Each lesson has a short multiple choice quiz at the end to test your knowledge. You cannot complete the class without passing these quizzes. At the end of each class is a longer multiple choice test. You need a grade of 90% to pass each quiz and you are given 3 attempts for the lesson quizzes and 2 attempts for the final quiz.
How long do I have to complete each online class?
From the date of enrolment, you are given 90 days to complete each class. Should you need to a 90 day extension may be purchases here for a fee of $35.00
I lost my login username or password. How do I get back into my account?
You can either reset your password through your profile page, or email an administrator to reset it. The contact email for administration is nancy@animalacupressure.com. Once you access your account, you can change your password to anything you like.
Does the program have specific in-take periods or can I start anytime?
The program does not have specific in-take periods, you can start whenever you choose. From the time of purchase, students are enrolled in their course within 24-48 hours.
If I’ve taken similar courses before, can I get transfer credits?
This is considered on a case by case basis and there are test-out options available to make sure you have the required knowledge to advance in the program. Please contact us at nancy@animalacupressure.com if you have a question regarding transfer credit eligibility.
